India is an interesting place for family law. Recently, the country has proposed the Hindu Marriage (Amendment) Bill - designed to overcome a family law system that’s hostile to the interests of women. Under the new family law legislation, women will be entitled to a share in matrimonial property / assets (acquired after marriage) – rather than the current payment of small amounts of spousal maintenance.
